 Fancy trying something new?

At Canned Food UK we like to continuously inspire you to cook with canned ingredients and what better way to do that than creating new recipes to try your hand at? Unveiled during Canned Food Week were seven delicious dishes to freshen up your mealtimes. These recipes have been created with convenience and nutrition in mind, and include a balanced mix of canned and fresh food.

Kick start your day with Eggs Florentine. It’s nice to mix it up from the usual toast and cereal every day and the egg in this delicious dish will help you feel fuller for longer. As well as slices of ham, the dish also features canned spinach which is an excellent source of folic acid which is essential for the production of red blood cells.

For those of you trying to squeeze nutrients into your little ones’ meals, our Tomato Soup with Hidden Vegetables is the perfect recipe to ensure they’re getting their 5-A-DAY. This clever dish is bursting with vegetables, including canned tomatoes, and fresh celery, carrots and courgettes, which have been blitzed together, so your kids are none the wiser.

A hearty meal, such as a traditional casserole, is always a treat after a long day at work, or after you drop the grandkids off. Our Pork and Fennel with Red Wine and Borlotti Beans Casserole takes only 10 minutes to prepare before placing in the oven and putting your feet up, whilst our Steak and Butter Bean Casserole is complete in just three easy steps. The canned beans in both these dishes are high in protein and low in fat, making them a nutritious ingredient to add to any meal.

If you’re after something a little lighter however, now that we’re into spring, why not try one of our two new salads? Our Green Lentil & Celeriac Salad includes tasty ingredients such as canned puy lentils, fresh baby spinach leaves, soft goat’s cheese, and some crispy pancetta to finish.  These recipes are great served fresh in the evening, and the leftovers are perfect to save for your lunchbox the next day!
