Learning Objectives:
- To understand in simple terms how food cans are made and the
materials involved in the process.
- To know what happens to cans
that are not recycled. i.e. They go into landfill sites and slowly
rust away.
- To understand how symbols can be used to explain decisions
and outcomes.
Resources:
- Activity Sheet 1 for each pair of children. (Photocopied on
thin card if possible. The card is easier to cut and is not as
easy to accidentally disturb as paper.)
- A pair of scissors for each
child.
- Paste and spatulas, and some A3 sized mounting paper. (Optional
see ‘differentiation.’)
- A variety of steel cans containing
food.
- An aluminium can.
- A magnet.
