The Lessons: An Overview

Aim: To locate information from a text source in order to complete a sequential text activity. To understand how to measure the capacity of a range of cylinders.

Age Group: Key Stage 2 Years 4 - 6

Curriculum Links:
Literacy Strategy – Sequential texts and reading for information.
Numeracy Strategy – Measuring volumes, measuring using a range of units and estimating measurements.

LESSON 1
By studying the processes involved in the manufacture cans, children locate information from a text source in order to complete a sequential text activity based on the can manufacturing process.

LESSON 2
By measuring different aspects of a range of cans children learn how to calculate the volume held in each can using a measuring cylinder.
