What makes an effective advert?
The Lessons: An Overview
Aim: For children to investigate the world
of advertising and begin to appreciate the power that advertising has on
the ability to sell a product.
Age Group: Key Stage 2 Years 4 - 6
Curriculum Links:
Literacy Strategy: Writing to persuade, use of adjectives, descriptive
writing.
LESSON 1
The children look at a range of magazine adverts and begin to learn
about some of the different strategies that are used to try and persuade
us to buy a product.
LESSON 2
The children look closely at adverts and identify some of the strategies
that are being used within it. They also write some persuasive sentences
for a variety of foods.
LESSON 3
In this lesson, children are asked to design their own advert for
some more unusual canned foods!
